Takalar – The Marine Science Study Program, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, conducted a field practicum on Sanrobengi Island, Takalar Regency. This activity served as a form of hands-on learning, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of marine environmental conditions and apply the knowledge they had acquired in the classroom.
Through this practicum, students gained not only academic experience but also the opportunity to learn directly in an outdoor environment. The field setting provided a different learning experience that enriched students’ understanding of their course materials.
Selvianti, a Marine Science student from the 2024 cohort and one of the practicum participants, shared that the activity was a memorable learning experience.
“In my opinion, this was a very valuable learning experience, not only in the classroom but also through direct field activities. We were able to understand the materials more practically and gain new experiences,” said Selvianti.

In addition to serving as a learning platform, the practicum also provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships between students and lecturers. The interactions throughout the activity fostered a warmer, friendlier, and more harmonious sense of togetherness.
Muh. Nasir, one of the participating students, expressed that field practicum activities offer a valuable opportunity to build closer relationships between students and lecturers.
“Through activities like this, we can get closer to our lecturers and fellow students. It is not just about learning, but also about building togetherness and strengthening our teamwork,” said Nasir.
The field practicum on Sanrobengi Island is expected to provide meaningful learning experiences for students of the Marine Science Study Program while strengthening both academic and social relationships within the university community.
