IKL FPIK –The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK), Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), continues to expand its strategic partnerships with various institutions as part of its commitment to enhancing the quality of education and practical learning experiences for students. This commitment was reflected in the visit of the Environmental Education Center (PPLH) Puntondo to FPIK UMI to discuss the implementation of the Professional Internship Program (PKP) for students of the Marine Science Study Program.
The meeting, held at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, served as an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration between academia and an institution specializing in environmental education, coastal resource management, and marine conservation. Through this partnership, students are expected to gain broader practical experience by applying the knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world professional settings.
During the productive discussion, both institutions explored various aspects of the internship program, including student placement mechanisms, the scope of field activities, supervision during the internship, and opportunities to develop professional competencies. The program is designed to enable students to integrate theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience in the field.

As an institution actively engaged in environmental education and coastal community empowerment, PPLH Puntondo provides an ideal learning environment for Marine Science students. Through the internship program, students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of coastal ecosystem management, marine resource conservation, environmental education, and sustainable coastal community development.
FPIK UMI welcomed the proposed collaboration as part of its ongoing commitment to providing an adaptive, practice-oriented learning environment that meets the evolving needs of the marine and fisheries sectors. Establishing partnerships with professional institutions is one of the faculty's strategic efforts to produce graduates with strong academic foundations, practical skills, and the ability to respond to contemporary challenges in marine science.
In addition to discussing the implementation of the Professional Internship Program, the meeting also explored opportunities for broader collaboration in joint research, community service initiatives, training programs, seminars, and other academic activities related to marine science and sustainable coastal resource management.
Through this partnership, FPIK UMI reaffirms its commitment to building productive collaborations with external stakeholders. The synergy between higher education institutions and professional partners is expected to create a more innovative learning ecosystem, provide meaningful field experience for students, and produce Marine Science graduates who are competent, professional, globally competitive, and ready to contribute to the sustainable development of Indonesia's marine sector.
