Makassar, August 2–3, 2026 – The Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK), Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), participated in the UMI Islamic Strategic Leadership Reorientation Forum (UISLRF) organized by Universitas Muslim Indonesia. The forum served as a strategic platform to strengthen Islamic leadership, align the University's vision, and support UMI's transformation toward UMI 2030 as an outstanding, high-quality, and globally competitive Islamic university.
The event brought together the Board of the UMI Waqf Foundation, the University leadership, deans and vice deans, heads and secretaries of study programs, and leaders of various work units across Universitas Muslim Indonesia. The participation of the Aquaculture Study Program leadership reflected its commitment to strengthening academic governance, enhancing the quality of human resources, and fostering a work culture grounded in Islamic values.
The forum featured three distinguished external speakers: Dr. Mersa Gamel, who discussed strategic leadership and organizational transformation; Ustadz Dr. Das'ad Latif, who delivered an inspiring session on leadership based on the values of the Holy Qur'an and noble character; and KH. Dr. Arrazy Hasyim, who presented an Islamic perspective on leadership, integrity, and the role of leaders in building civilization.
For the Aquaculture Study Program, participation in this forum represents an important step in strengthening academic leadership capacity to address the evolving challenges of higher education. The values of integrity, collaboration, innovation, professionalism, and service are expected to be increasingly integrated into academic management, the implementation of the University's three core missions of higher education, and the development of aquaculture education that is responsive to the needs of society and the fisheries industry.
Through strengthening Islamic leadership, the Aquaculture Study Program is committed to continuously improving the quality of education, expanding research and innovation in aquaculture, strengthening partnerships with various stakeholders, and producing competent graduates with strong moral character who are well-prepared to contribute to the sustainable development of the aquaculture sector.
By actively participating in the UMI Islamic Strategic Leadership Reorientation Forum (UISLRF), the Aquaculture Study Program of FPIK UMI reaffirms its commitment to supporting Universitas Muslim Indonesia's transformation toward UMI 2030 through the enhancement of Islamic leadership, excellent governance, a sustainable quality culture, and the development of globally competitive human resources.
